My Primal Cobb Salad

When People ask me what a delicious and easy Paleo and Keto friendly meal is my #1 answer is always a Cobb salad. It has greens, protein, healthy fats and everything that is delicious.

If you are super strict Paleo you are probably not eating dairy which means that the blue cheese is out the window. But, if you are like me and can’t even fathom a Cobb salad without a little blue cheese then dive right in. Remember everything in moderation, isn’t that what people say. I definitely don’t subscribe to that across the board by any means, but when it comes to cheese don’t even bother making it an option. My answer will always be yes.

Now let’s talk about salad dressing. I used to be kind that would drown my Cobb salad in ranch dressing but these days I almost feel like it takes away from the amazing flavors of the amazing ingredients that go into this salad. I now choose to go with a really great quality olive oil like Kasandrinos Olive Oil. It is easily the purest most flavorful and healthiest olive oil you will find. So what do I do? I drizzle it all over my salad and add in a pinch of Himalayan sea salt on top and that is all it need.

Once everything is chopped it’s really up to you and your OCD tendencies on how you assemble your salad. For me it just depends on the day. Some days I like to perfectly chop everything up and place them in really nice rows on top of my greens like at a restaurant but most days I just throw it all on there and where it lands is where it lands.

My Primal Cobb Salad

Serves: 1


  • 1 Plate full of your favorite leafy greens
  • 3/4 cup cooked chicken
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1/2 roma tomato
  • 2 tbsp blue cheese (if you do dairy)
  • 1 hard boiled egg
  • 2 strips uncured Paleo friendly bacon
  • salt to your liking



Fill your plate full of your favorite leafy greens. On this day I used romaine lettuce.


Chop and dice up your chicken, tomato, bacon and hard boiled egg.


Carefully open up that avocado and if you are not going to use the whole baby place the side with the seed in an airtight container and put in the refrigerator. Slice or dice the seedless side.


Use a fork to crumble up the blue cheese into the perfect size bites for you.


Either place the cut ingredients neatly on your greens or just throw them on there like I do most days.


Top your salad with some awesome olive oil or if ranch dressing is your jam make sure you are either making a paleo friendly version at home or using a Paleo friendly brand like Primal Kitchen Ranch Dressing.
